You Must Learn To LET GO
WARNING: CONTAINS FLASHING COLOURS
This is a teaser video I made in collaboration with Dubai based electronic-music producer Arsenite, for his EP called 'Euphoria'.
The whole concept behind this video was that, as artists, we often get caught up thinking of the outcome of our creative projects. Instead, this is a reminder to focus on enjoying the process of creating art.
You can listen to the EP on your platform of choice.
HOUDINI Simulations
CAMPFIRE Simulation
Here is a scene I created in Houdini as a project in my final year of college. The campfire was simulated using Houdini’s robust Pyro FX tools.
The scene was rendered using Mantra and was split into several layers: the Fire, the Tent and Wooden Logs, the Ground, and the Trees in the background.
Except the fire, all the other layers were still images. This was done to make the compositing process much more easier and streamlined. The flickering light and the fire embers were added later using Adobe After Effects.
LEGO FIRE Simulation
This is a render of a Lego style Fire simulation done inside of Houdini. The simulation was done using the Pyro Solver tools and the “Copy to Points” node in Houdini.
I modelled a single lego brick using procedural modelling techniques and copied it to the different points that were generated using the “Volume Bounds” and the “Points from Volume” nodes on the pyro simulation.
I used Houdini’s pre-built “Pyro Shader” materials for the lego bricks, and a simple “Principled Shader” for the purple floor. The lighting and rendering was done using Mantra.
OCEAN WATER Simulation
This is a render of ocean water using Houdini’s built in shelf-tools for creating small oceans.
There are two layers here: an ocean interior layer, and the ocean surface. Both of them have different materials as well, to give the render a more realistic look. A high quality HDRI was used to light the scene to aid in the realism as well.
The lighting and rendering was done using Mantra.
